Coaching
The coaching method is recognized as one of the most effective methods of development, as it is flexible and at the same time goal-oriented. It is a method that gets you from point A (undesired state) to point B (desired state).
“A coach is a person who, with the help of questions, leads the individual to get answers and solutions that are most appropriate for him and encourages him to be consistent in the implementation of the agreed action plans. In this way, a coach systematically guides a person to discover and realize their potential.”
There are several different types of coaching:
Business coaching
Business coaching focuses on business development and helps to solve specific company problems and changes in company culture.
Companies decide on business coaching when e.g. business needs and results are not achieved; managers want to increase the productivity of their employees; a change in company’s culture is planned, etc.
Management coaching
Management coaching contributes to the development of management potential (middle and top management) – the emphasis is on the development of management skills so that they can perform their work as efficiently as possible. In this case the coach helps create circumstances for regular self-reflection and supports the leader in achieving the set strategic goals.
A person decides for management coaching when, e.g. he or she takes on a new role as a leader in a team, faces challenges in a team, wants to upgrade his leadership skills, etc.
Performance coaching
Performance coaching is usually carried out during or after training programs, as research shows that the greatest decline in knowledge is within 1 month after training. Performance coaching enables a person to turn new knowledge into concrete competences in the shortest possible time, feeling additional responsibility to transfer knowledge into practice due to cooperation with the coach.
Companies decide on performance coaching (individual or team) when it wants to maximize the effects of training and achieve a permanent change in behavior.
Life coaching
Life coaching is a method that helps an individual to set and realize personal goals. It covers activities that help an individual to fulfill his potential and aim to achieve better results in everyday life.
A person decides on life coaching when, for example, he or she is motivated to change, but not sure which direction is most appropriate; knows what he or she wants, but is not sure about the right means and abilities; in the case of unexpected life events that force a person to reconsider his priorities in life.
Career coaching
Career coaching empowers individuals to achieve their career goals. Usually, a career coach, with his knowledge and experience, helps a person discover interests, talents, abilities that enable him to set and achieve his career goals. Coach often use questionnaires as an additional source of information in their work.
A person decides for career coaching if, for example, he or she feels that the job is no longer fulfilling; wants to do something else, but doesn’t yet know what; when a person wants to prepare for a bigger career step, etc.
